Flowers by the Riverbank
Because it’s late,
The clock is ticking,
Little girls have since stopped picking,
Flowers by the riverbank.
Because cats are sleeping,
Socks are drying,
All the mother’s have since stopped crying,
To see those little girls grow up.
Because it’s late,
Innocence is sinking,
Little girls have since stopped thinking,
That little boys have cooties.
Because I know,
What it means,
To take care of everything,
And nothing, all at once.
Because your words,
Seemed so sincere,
I thought you held me so very dear,
But it was no quite so.
Because it’s late,
The clock is ticking,
Little girls have since stopped picking,
Flowers
By
The
Riverbank.
