This is a message to be sent directly to my old
Idiot Loser Friends:

Guys
If you didn’t waste
Every waking moment
Checking your makeup
Flirting with boys that will only get you into trouble
And trying to look cool
(note: you’re not cool.
it’s not happening.
give it up.)

If you didn’t waste all your time on that
You might have a life.

Hey!
Did you guys know
That some people really like boys?
They don’t just use them as social accessories?
Hey!
Did you know
Some people aren’t so insecure
That they have to hang out together after school
Every day
To feel cool?

Hey- this is especially for you, my ex-best-friend-
You used to be so smart!
What happened to you?
She’s not worth your time!
Are you blind?

You guys remember all the good times we had together?
Laughing, smiling
Not really caring if the popular people thought we were weird?

G-d
Why did I even waste my time on you?
If you were just going to end up like...
This?

Lots of people say
“They’ll change, trust me
All teenagers go through this
Once they hit high school
They’ll get a life”

So once you hit high school
Are you going to realize
That I really
honestly
DON’T CARE
what you think
Or what anyone does
For that matter?
You going
to stop treating me like a charity case
Because you’re going to realize
That I find it funny?

You going to realize
I have real friends now?

Well, I guess the article really says it, but it's inspired by my "Old Idiot Loser Friends".

Writers are a less dangerous version of the career criminal. Everywhere they go, they see the potential for the perfect crime. The difference is that writers have better self control.

These words have fire! Great poem.

I know how you feel. This has happened to about half the girls I knew in sixth grade, and it drove me crazy - people just changing who they are to be accepted, like those smart girls who pretend to be dumb so they become popular (unfortunately? it works). I like your writing style in this too - lots of emotion comes across. Good job :-)

This is really good.  There are a lot of kids at my school that think popularity is the only thing that matters and they throw everything else away for it.  This is so true and I love it!!!!!!

I love it, Esi!

Some of my friends went through the exact same thing in middle school, and it made me sick... now, we aren't really friends anymore, but we're still friendly, and I like seeing them growing up so much and moving on from that phase.

Very real, very personal! Great job, and I hope your friends come around soon!
