Harried authority figure
Superfluous demands
Precious music of mine
held captive in her hands

“Disrespect”, she claims
such sick solecism of the word
Respect to her is like
The duty of the sky to support the bird

No such law exists! I fume
but silent is my rage
it is a tamed emotion, I keep in a gilded cage

Her voice is quick and angry
posture demanding that I bow
I stand my ground and apologize
wiping her condescendence from my brow

The mantle of maturity, now is mine to wear
She runs her hands distractedly through her thin, brown hair
I will give no quarter, nor stoop to her calculations
she should not be so quick to look for insubordinations

Her footsteps follow her away,
trailing the remains of her havocked hubris
I hope that she will afterwards
be kinder to her students

"and she turned around and demanded my Mp4 player. 'Give it!' Oh, the thousands of retorts that sat upon my tongue so, so eager to leap with fangs bared and take her down. Math teacher indeed. Hmph! But no, no I said to my self. Sometimes inaction is more powerful than rash activity..."
