What Did You Expect?
Constellations plot the thoughts in my mind
On a plane that never ends
While you’re sitting with your hands on your knees
Elegant and waiting
Upside down in the atmosphere
I watch the shades turn to gray
And the leaves fall to the sky
As the rain pours onto my feet
The contrasting colors relax my mind
It runs circles around what could have been
And the news reports say it’s dangerous outside
But this can’t hurt you, it’ll just kill you before you feel it
Alone in a whirlwind of a desperate cosmic storm
There’s something just under the surface of make believe
Hesitant, like my point of view
It crawls into the open, unwilling
Painted portraits disguise the sky
I don’t notice the bitter wind
In summer attire I let it snow
It’s one of the many things I can’t control.
