Untitled
There are many languages,
spoken throughout the world
We speak what is familiar.
The tongue forms words
Thoughts and ideas.
I don’t understand.
I don’t understand your language.
What are you saying?
I beg. I fall to my knees.
I see your lips moving
I hear sounds escaping
I can’t feel you.
I can’t determine what they mean.
I am foreign.
I don’t understand.
I am an alien.
Don’t belong.
Still on my knees,
I am falling again.
Closer to the Earth,
This place I was never meant to be
Until I am molded
Into the soil.
Patted until invisible
One with what I am not.
I never spoke your language
Yet here I am
I finally understand.
