Fly Away(Today)
Today she shall fly away
as far as she can from the gray;
her wings will touch the azure sky
when she forgets the tearful good-bye.
Today she will no longer have a past
because truly it was never meant to last;
she has no more salted tears to cry
no longer when she asks,” Why?” will it be answered with a lie
Today as she embraces the morning gold
she will learn she no longer needs a hand to hold;
there is no longer a reason to care
no more burdens of perfection to bare.
Today with her last breath
she will search the skies for the Angel of Death;
as she takes her very last chance
when she does her final step in her life’s dance.
