The Things I Can't Tell You
I don’t want you to find out I am not the little girl you once knew
I will never tell you I was seven when I first began to doubt your faith.
I will never tell you I think you are often irrational.
I will never tell you I am not as strong as you think.
I will never tell you I am not as strong as I want to be.
I will never tell you how I lie to myself to rationalize lying to you.
I will never tell you how low I can feel.
I will never tell you how most of my dreams have left me.
I will never tell you how my creative spark has faded.
I will never tell you these things because
It would make you cry
And I will never tell you that when you cry
It breaks my heart.
