Daddy's 41st Birthday
Happy Birthday Dad
You're now 41
You're probably not that happy
Getting older is no fun
So I thought I'd show you
How much you mean to me
I'll try not to be cheesy
Which poems tend to be
It all started on August 8th
As Mommy held me tight
You were right beside her
I couldn't see you, but I'm right
While I was crying
I'm sure I could feel you there
After all, I am a part of you
Your eyes, your nose, your hair
Although I can't remember
My many birthdays growing up
I know you were always there
Giving smiles and hugs
You were there to support me
Always wanting to give me the world
But of course that's impossible
I'm fine with just being your little girl
And I'll always be your little girl
No matter how much I grow
Cause I love my Daddy very much
I think you already know
I'm so grateful that you're here today
So grateful to see your smile
Cause other girls in my classes
Haven't seen their Daddies in a while
And then I start to think
What my life would be like
If Daddy wasn't around
A huge part of my life
I wouldn't be the same person
I wouldn't be complete
After all I am a part of you
Your hands, your legs, your feet
And this is why I worry
About your health sometimes
Cause I can't lose my Daddy
A big part of my life
I love sharing interests
Like hockey, food, and bands
Cause then I'm connected to you more
Connected to a great man
So just think of all you did so far
Especially with raising me
You still have much to do
You're not old yet, see?
Stop thinking you can't do things
Cause you'll always be raising me
Even when I have a family of my own
I'll still need my Daddy
So you've turned 41
And you're still the best Dad ever
You're so funny and lovable
You've always been and will be forever
There's so much more I could say
But I can hear you eating candy again
So I'm going to wish you a Happy Birthday
My father, my hero, my friend.
