Murder....
I heard a murder happened the other day.
It was in FR-You know, that mall where we go for vellapanti?
Remember McD's? Course you do.
It smacks you in the face as you enter.
THATS the scene of crime.
Manner of death you ask?
A heart ripped out,
Stomped on, Kicked across the floor.
I wonder if the crass commercialism
At McD's would stoop low enough
To make burgers out of all that bloodied meat
I mean, Why waste it?
Victim, Murderer?
It's long story to tell and I'm tired, yaar.
Climb into my time machine and see for yourself.
It's 4 in the evening.
Crowded as usual
With yammering, faceless, restless
Mockeries at the name of humanity
One still speck in the,
Mulitudes of movement.
A quiet sorta girl
Not much of a looker
But, with a different sorta
Bearing, for sure.
Sitting pensively
Clutching the hot chocolate in her hands
Hard enough to make it splash out
and burn.
Anxiety betrayed as always by the nervous, twisting hands..
Glances at her watch
She's got a deadline to meet
A deal she made with herself.
In walks a boy..
Tall, solid....so heartrendingly...Normal
and when he sits down beside
the girl
You would be surprised
To see, complication and simplicity
So entwined.....
Take another look at the boy
Can you see?
The love,adoration,devotion.
So clearly writ on his face
He has gone beyond the love
Of physicality or obsession
That so often characterizes teenage romance...
It's for real.
But, look some more...
and you'll see.
A hint of resignation
and deeply reigned in sorrow
He knows what's coming
Even though he's fighting
Not to accept it
Fighting to save it
But, he came here a willing victim...
The girl places a gentle palm
Over a tight fist
The only expression that shows
Of the tumult within him
She is trying to be gentle
Trying to be kind
Hasn't had much practice in either.
She, the veritable wordsmith
Is hunting for words to explain
Why she must kill him
Kill "them"
He makes one last plea
"Tell me why?"
"Please don't"
But he knows already..it's no use...
The last humane part left in her is in a great deal of pain
To see someone like him...beg like this....
She shakes her head....
Inflicts the fatal blow
and kills him.
As the ghost of the boy
walks out with her
They talk with forced cheer
Of days to come..of movies they gotta watch
As friends, of course..
No peace in afterlife
it'll kill him once more to be in touch with her
But, she needs his friendship
And he will sacrifice, this too, for her....
As she walks around the exit..
To the front where the car is parked
He calls her.
He's back in Mc'D
Watching through the glass
Making sure she gets in the car
Making sure she's safe...
He protects his murderess.
She gives a nolchalant wave
Gets in and drives away...
Doesn't look back
But she knows
he'll be standing there
Till her car's outta sight
And soon will call
To make sure she got home alright
She knows,
His dead eyes, ask but one question now
"Were the past two years a lie?"
The girl ain't looking back
She follows her head...
And something merely got in her eyes
Coz, of course, murderers never cry
