haunting melodies spread thru the valley
tacitly spreading discord & chaos

dark notes veil violence, malice
erasing integrity & moral standards

pleasure, a sedative used often
numbing pained memories
killing the child within

slowly staining the bleeding heart
destroying beloved happiness

past and present become hazy
the future a forgotten dream

reality, a wretched place
imagination the killing formula
on my peace of mind

desperate for the candle’s light source
in my shaded room
demons lick their lips
expecting easy prey

long as I can see the light
