Following You
Late afternoon had come again,
But not a firefly in sight.
And the ache in my soul
Could’ve cracked a stone.
My body feels like dust
As I walk toward the grave.
In the lake there is a swan,
With blossoms in her feathers.
Mournful music begins to play
My spirit begins to crumble.
I stood looking at the snowflake
That you carved into the gate.
I’m standing in this field of brown,
Fighting the winter wind.
I’m looking for a minute of glory.
I’ll be looking for eternity.
From dawn until dusk,
Even if I’m freezing cold.
And here is sunrise,
And there’s a patch of green.
I’m running along the path
That the dove once flew.
Right now the moon is up.
And a gentle breeze whips my hair into my face.
The stream creates a quiet beauty.
So soft and clean and simple,
And the water is crystal clear.
Now approaches my guardian angel,
With a poem in her hand.
And here comes a gentle light
Soaring in from the distance.
She stands before me in her golden robe,
And now takes life from me.
She carries me up to heaven’s white bliss.
