have you ever
Have you ever closed your eyes and wished upon a star
Hoping peace and tranquility
will flow from near to far
Have you ever dreamed that everyone was treated just the same
When people look beyond your colour and beyond your name
Have you ever prayed to a higher power; begging for another chance
Swearing you will set things right and give it more than a glance
Have you ever wanted to help someone so much weaker than you
Yet when it came the time you knew not what to do
Have you ever blocked out the world to try and protect your heart
But you let one person in and they tear your world apart
Have you ever cried yourself to slept night after night
Trying to forget every stupid little fight
Have you ever held a gun and put it to your head
Tears rolling down your face wishing you were dead
Have you ever let go of the person you hold dear
And now youre alone wishing they were here
Have you stopped while reading this and thought about your life
So many things to do in so very little time
Never take for-granted something you hold dear
One day you'll turn around and find it no longer near
