From: A woman of color. To: The man I love
Fear not, Love.
You're safe inside me.
For I am strong and sturdy
and I was built to carry nations.
Don't trouble me with half truths
or white lies.
Do not spare me the gorey
details of the deaths of
the children I Myself have borne
They are not yours to lie about.
Feel Free to build your family inside me and have peace
knowing that no one
who harms what is ours will pass
me unscathed.
Go forth into the world and let
me stay behind to do the dirty work
Let the blame for our childrens flaws fall on me.
Let me carry the weight of your anger at the outside world.
let me lift you up in
quiet submission
For I am strong and sturdy and I was built to carry nations.
