Car Ride
We were driving down the road
And I was sitting shotgun
And it was dark outside,
But you wouldn't notice
For all the lights
He was trying to strike up a conversation
But I didn't feel like talking
So we just rode is silence
With the radio blaring
I was so lost in thoughts
That I didn't feel a thing
But the car jumped over potholes
And my mind whirled in time
With the motion
And the future was before us
So I kept my eyes glued to the rearview mirror
Watching our past,
As it disappeared
