SPEAK
A cold night, the frigid wind blows.
Down the hallway a window slams shut.
Chilled with fear but soaked with sweat
I lay awake with thoughts screaming, beating,
dancing wildly dying to get out.
I look at the clock it is but 3 am,
Two more hours until daylight breaks,
120 minutes of salvation.
Will this day bring what formerly I’ve gone through?
Can it possibly unleash another hellish horror?
A day like the one before?
Will my thoughts be kept in
and my talents left unnoticed?
Again will I be pushed aside as I walk
against the crowd?
No wait!
Today I could be sovereign,
Full of confidence.
Today, I might speak my mind
