Hiding
You stand on shaky ground,
While dodging bullets
Careful to be unseen
The real you hides inside
Beneath the pain.
You start to forget
Who you used to be
And you start to wonder
If you will ever remember.
You force yourself to change
And people are appreciative
But do they really know
If that’s the real you?
The smile on your face
Won’t last forever
Apparently, it should, because
Only then will they be satisfied
So why is it so difficult
For them to consider
That you were better off
Before
than you are now.
