Smoke and Mirrors
Beautiful and perfect
Not a hair out of place
You learn to expect
This from me
But my true self is wrecked
The perfect grades,
The glamorous wardrobe
My shiny black shades
My illusion thrives,
While I continue to fade
I’m empty inside,
I told you I was fine
But I lied
I want to show you me
But all I can do is hide
I once tried to break
This mirror prison of mine
The parading fake
If not for you,
Then for my own sake
The status quo is dragging me down
Bit by little bit
I’m just trying not to drown
But I’m sinking,
My life slipping from my fingertips.
