Mossy Eyes
I think these glasses would look fine on you
And contacts are constricting.
Glassy
eyed,
Film across your pupils
Dilated: mirror
Blink
ing
I think the glasses suit you well
You cannot bring yourself to tell me
Creep
ing
Words about your life
In prose you will render to me,
Your hiding irises, well
I can’t
see it,
And I think those glasses look nice on you

This poem is about 2 people. One, a male, the one with the “glasses” (metaphor: mirror, that reflects off a.k.a avoids the crime he has committed) is hiding a secret. The secret is the crime he has committed. The other person, female, wants him to “put on the glasses”, as in not tell her what is really going on, because she feels it would be better if she simply didn’t know.
Line breaks are in 2, like blinking. (Open and shut)
“Dilated: mirror
Blink
ing”
-This means they are blinking (closing their eyes, therefore, not seeing) when the mirror is not there. (The word “mirror” is between “blink” and “ing” in the stanza). (“Mirror” as in, pretending, or avoiding the secret) And when the mirror is there, they are seeing and living the lie, and he is not telling her what is really going on.
