City of Night
The moonlight bathes it in its celestial light,
It likens it to a city of night
Bathed in its cold, unforgiving glow,
The city of night, the city of dream-fears
Wandering alleys, winding streets, the stairs, it climbs, up-up-up
The winds howl and rage at it, that menacing tower,
With cobalt blue and ebony black, it stands,
Reaches, reaches to the heavens with a outstretched hand,
Ominous, terrible, a sight to behold
It cuts like a knife into the moon’s eye
Over the hills, a wolf calls
Its lonely howl echoing throughout the streets,
With cobblestone path, and closed doors,
A haven for thieves and those who sneak,
A nightmare, never-ending, this city of night
Bathed in moonlight’s ethereal glow.
What does it mean?
We do not know.
When the sun goes down in this city of night,
I trust that you would go.
