sometimes
Sometimes
I feel lost
As if I’m surrounded
By a cloud of static
And hear
Mangled words
Strangled gurgling
And see
Blurred shapes
Whizzing past
Without a care in the world
For me at least
And I wonder
Is that what I want?
What I’m waiting for?
For those
…
Shadows
To notice me
To speak to me?
To hear me?
Am I waiting for anything?
Sometimes
I think I am
and it makes me
squirm
then the static is amplified
a million times
and I know my eardrums
must have burst
but it only lasts
a second
and then the shadows take on
their forms
and the color
seeps into
the world
and there you are
waiting for me
just like
you said you’d be
