She was standing
Right beside me
But now she’s gone
With only the sweet memories
Of the time we shared
Laughing and Crying
The days we spent together
With each day passing by slowly
I cling to those memories
Of the two of us
Waiting for the day
I cry in misery
For I miss her dearly
With that ach in my heart
Of every thought
And that pain of her
Being gone
In fear that I’ll loose her forever
In fear that we will drift apart
As I wait sitting at my home
Waiting second by second
Minute by minute
Hour by hour
Day by day
Week by week
When I fall asleep each night I dream of her
One day when I wake up
She will be back
Safe and sound
And feeling better

The author's comments:
This poem came to me a few days after my closest friend (just like a sister) left for a long journey that only she can make. I do wait each and every day for her to return and I am looking for her return. It is hard for the two of us because we are never apart, but I feel like at times that I am there right beside her or she is right beside me. When she loses her confidence that she can’t do the treat meant, I reassure her that she can do it. That is why I wrote this poem. This poem first started out in my heart, then it headed up to my head, and finally out onto paper.
