Cherry Stain
Cherries melt in the sun
No where to go,
No where to run
The faces make you cry
As they cry too
But the world isn’t safe
It’s no paradise
We’re stuck here together
With no where to go
No where to run
Step in the melted fruit
Red staining your feet
Red staining your eyes
Staining the city herself
And I cry for her
It’s an injury we’ll never forget
She’s so precious
And yet this stain
Invades her beauty with tears
Fear rolls down the street
Emptying our hearts
Death invades our eyes
As we turn away to pray
For we’re not gods nor saviors
We’re only human
With a cherry stain
