Recess of Life
Sliding on the slides
Pushing on the swings
Laughter at the Monkey Bars
Running in the Jungle Gym
A girl cries on the ground with dirt in her hair
A boy laughs beside her, who put the dirt there
Children running on my left
Kids laughing on my right
Then a trouble sound that all the kids hate
The Bell
That horrible bell makes all the little faces go long
Some kick
Others scream
The kick balls are still and the hula hoops dropped
Adults come from left and right gathering the children
It was the end of recess and the learning had to began again
The recess of life
Freedom of the playground we call our childhood
Rings of that dreadful high school graduation bell
Putting away our kick balls and hula hoops
Starting the road to adulthood
