No one helps, no one tries, a cry for help gets denied.
Trying just to stay alive, you’ll steal and kill to thrive.
Water’s a prized possession, begging as a profession.
Dirt covers your body, you want to be somebody, anybody.
Someone important because you see your country
Weeping and crying, and the government denying
All their peoples discontent, blind to the suffering present.
You want to do anything, stop all the hardships you see
But the people are just too needy, you can’t change the way.
Your country is just trying to survive through each day.
You are no different; born no greater than dirt.
With wide open eyes you realize, the truth hurts.

I am fortunate in that I travel often. When coming home from Egypt, I was inspired to write this.
