A Kiss Goodbye
A kiss goodbye on the cheek,
Saying he’ll be home soon.
Those are the only thoughts in your mind.
People around you ask what wrong,
But they can’t understand.
Your world is breaking,
Shattering with every movement.
You’re alone,
Unsafe and unstable.
Those around you reach out to you,
But you don’t take their hands;
They are not the person you want.
These people are foreign,
Unrecognizable.
You feel the ground shake;
It tumbles beneath you like broken glass.
The Darkness comes,
Along with the numb feeing.
But all you feel is the phone in your hand and the voice on the other line saying
“I’m Sorry,
We lost him”
