Twisted
He descends upon your open wound,
Your twisted fate
Like a ravenous raven
Swooping-
Cashed it in, you checked it
Bring the money back to daddy
That’s always been your twisted lie
And crashing-
You’re swimming, ducking, treading
Colder, colder
Stupid games, stupid lies
You’re drifting farther away
Farther than you’ve ever dared
Go-
The only word that pounds inside your brain
Your cool, mellow skull
Back to the porch light
Reverse-
And smack
A young boy’s kiss
Eats up your father’s slap
And the cocaine’s grasp is no longer there
A startled breath, and
Crash-
You’re lifted-
Twisted.
