Beaten
As she fell, she felt a searing pain
Her pride and her body slain
His words, his touch all hurt the same
She felt it was her words to blame
The children cried
Her will to fight had already died
She stood up slowly and ran away
She couldn't stand another day
Empty inside, emotions gone
Mommy's crying went on and on
Drained of blood
She'd survived the flood
Watching life from the outside
Though he said sorry, she knew he lied
He drank his feelings, while she drank hers
Numb and hazy, daily blurs.
