A Drug You Can't Abuse
A whirl of nerves
The quiet of anticipation
As I take my first eager steps
Toward my only vice.
I open my mouth
And take the drug
It expands my mind
Sets my heart to racing
I am drenched in sweat
Impatient for my next fix
I know it must come soon,
The need is overwhelming
I step up again,
And take center stage
After all, performing is
My drug of choice
