In Halves
The decorations don’t change season to season
Observe the plastic malfeasance
When capricious seasons cease
To puncture the bubble we’ve created
We no longer see the seasons
But periscope into each other’s eyes and mouths
Trying to cage tame take away and hang
Clicks of our watches when we observed
What was it, reason?
When we didn’t drink our own perfume
We stared with marble eyes from bottoms of seas
As birds with leaves dropped from eaves
From trees that we
Wrung from our fingers
