Life Obama's Way
She was in that school chair all the time,
And all day long.
She was tired of all this teaching,
And all the things that she got wrong.
She left there in a hurry, ran to her house,
Told her mom she was quitting,
She was going to drop out.
Her mom sat her down and said,
"Honey, please don't do this."
But her mind was made up,
And she couldn't be dealt with.
She told her mom that she was, sick of learning,
And that she wouldn't go back,
Even though she could see her mom it was hurting.
Life came hard and cruel to that little girl,
And she began to realize,
She had given up the world.
She had a poor little job,
At a convenience store.
And her trashy car had broken something
She just couldn't afford.
Her friends who had finished school had all become a success,
And she saw she had made of her life a complete mess.
She wanted to fix things,
But she couldn't pay for school.
And they didn't give any scholarships,
'Cause the government was cruel.
They had ruined the economy,
And had taken all the cash.
They had killed her elderly grandmother,
And all the old ones at last.
The President was a Communist,
And there was no hope.
The America she knew as a child,
Had all gone up in smoke.
One day she tells her children,
Of how it was like,
To be free to make decisions,
Without fear of a fight.
The veterans run and hide in fear,
Of the President now,
Because he says that they are a threat,
And they must be wiped out.
What happened to that country,
Land of the Free?
It was taken over by a man,
Who was communist as could be.
In the end there's no one old, fat, or free,
And no one has the choice to be
What they want to be.

@dawanna m.:
i agree with the fact that wayyy too many people were expecting him to fix everything right there and then! it takes a looong looong time to get everything done properly, usually the quick saves are the ones that crash later on.
i also think that all the people that dont share the same opinions as the ones that voted for obama should at least be tolerant and encourage him because america has to stick with him until the end of his term ANYWAY, so might as well try to get something productive out of it.
@midnight_compositions:
the comment on communism is well said. some people have very different views on the idea especially since they or a close one might have had to go through the difficult extreme face of this ideology. throwing the word around isnt going to help anyone.
so you are for equal rights right? i mean, going to school, being able to talk to boys feeling like a human being, ect ect... but you are against women being drafted into the military. equal right, really? and so how is it fair that we get all the advantages the men get, but when it comes to war, sex is an excuse to get out of serving the country?
saying that women are better at taking care of the family is also unjust; i have many friends who's fathers have taken better care of them than their mothers. family life doesnt depend on the sex, it depends on the person.
not being american myself, i cant say that i wouldnt be scared of being drafted (i dont TRULLY have the same pov, the best i can do is imagine), but we are all hoping here that it will never be necessary.
While I think that your poem was written very well, I do have to address the actual points made in your poem.
I guarantee you that what Obama is doing is nothing like communism in reality.
The last time I checked, the health care bill does nothing to hinder your ability to think freely and to think for yourself. Obama trying to take more of a nice role in international relations would only help the US. Without countries willing to back up the United States, it's highly unlikely that anything would actually get done. Remember Japan and the tuna issue? Exactly.
Also, what Obama is doing - such as trying to get out of the war in the middle east, would actually only help in terms of freedom - if we were in some massive war, we'd have even less freedom. If you refer back to US law, press can be censored in times of war.
As for having no money, etc. if Obama was just going to leave the financial market be, and leave it in it's mess without doing anything, how do you know that it wouldn't be any worse? Merril Lynch might to be around, nor would GM, Goldman Sachs and numerous other major companies. Are you sure you think that this is better for America? That's a huge number of people with no income; unemployed. You may as well just try to top the Great Depression. Just ask your grandparents, I'm not sure they'd think that's the best idea.
Still, your poem was written well and you expressed your ideas clearly. Keep writing!
