Her Wish
The ribbons in her hair trembled,
as the night sky began to murmur for day time to go.
It whispered of the stars that were aching to be wished upon,
as she sat... all alone.
Her wide eyes told her story,
of a stubborn hope that’d never die.
But the sky she prayed to was slowing falling,
right before her young, wide eyes.
She heard day time whimper,
and felt it’s tears weigh down her hair.
So as if to stop night time from taking over,
she pushed her little arms up in the air.
A brutal gust of wind consumed her,
and crept upon her delicate skin.
But never did she dare put her arms down..
she was determined to help day time win.
A wink from the enemy
shone a star that made her attention fixed
It twinkled brightly,
as she closed her wide eyes and wished.
A wish that she was scared to wish
She even begged the star for it to come true.
A wish that seemed impossible,
but it was all she could do.
After what seemed like eternity,
fighting day times wild fight
Her little arms plopped unwilling
to her stubborn tired side.
Her droopy eyes even gave up!
Shielding her view of day time’s last breath.
All she wanted was to be there to say goodbye…
but her eyes gave up, all for a little rest.
Little did she know,
that her wish was coming true.
Night time and day time had a meeting
And whispered till her dreams were through.
When she awoke the sun was shining.
Kissing her cheeks and hugging her close.
She sat up and sighed deeply…
Readying her exhausted little self for another fight against the foe.
But this time there was no fight..
No reason to be blue.
Night time was being nice..
her wish had come true!!
Her wish of peace between opposites,
Between night time and day.
All to occur while she was deep in her dreams,
while she was far, far away.
Day never leaves now,
it just gets clothed in night.
All thanks to the little girl,
who always wore her ribbons just right.
