Darkness Eats
I can feel it sliver up my leg
This tendril of darkness
So eager to consume my soul
As the world fades darker
From color to white and black
And softens on the edges of my vision.
This thing’s not alone.
Others make their way toward me
Inch by inch they creep
Closer and closer.
This game’s not fun anymore.
I try to scream,
But no sound comes out,
And I’m stuck where I am
As one makes its way inside
through my opened mouth.
And suddenly the world’s on fire
Everything burns brightly.
Too brightly for these mundane eyes.
And when vision fails,
I can only feel.
Feel the darkness
Tear and pull and cut and eat
Away my soul.
Destroy my body.
Consumes me until all else fades away.
