An art is the best medicine
For it imparts the heart on a journey
Through mediums known all to well
And my medium I know best, comes from the deepest well

A poets song comes from the heart
Sparked by the soul
Inspired by the hole to be filled
And so to be healed

For to relate words to paper
That come from great danger
Is to cleanse the soul
And rid the anger

From the hollows of the soul
Comes the sorrow and woe
Sewn to be and never cease
But poetry fills the least

And when the soul turns green
Fills with envy
And almost bursts at the seams
Poetry is there to redeem

Lastly when the soul is full of disgust
Let the poem be there to trust
For it must be the best listener
To truly clean the rust off the hardened heart and glisten

The author's comments:
My opinions of the personal effects a poem can have on mental health. Obviously it can't really be universally proven, but personally I can prove it to myself. For an opinion leads to knowledge.

I've also been greatly inspired by dialogues of Socrates having conversation with Menon and Ion, before reading these I really had no clue what philosophy was, and now I do.

"They say 'Life's two steps forward and one step back' - But what if I tripped and fell down the whole flight of stairs?"

I highly agree! Great job, this was very well spoken. The tone of this piece Was philosophical.
