"If the highest aim of a captain were to preserve his ship, he would keep it in port forever." - Thomas Aquinas

without wind we see
no less than most windy days.
yet to feel the air around you
is to Love?

but unseeable wind
fast enough can blind.
yet to see less
is to Feel more?

storms can brew
a deadly wind.
yet to bleed
is to be Happy?

wind
kills
yet to embrace the wind
is to embrace Humanity?

The author's comments:

As an aromantic person, I've had quite the challenge truly understanding the difference between love and friendship and where the line exactly is drawn. It seems that so-called "love" so often leads to more pain than a close friendship ever would and tend to last a fleeting moment compared to real friendship. Having love compared to wind, as something unseeable but still feelable was the catalyst for writing.
