My Own Paradox
I see the world in riddles and rhymes
in puzzles and problems, questions and queries
searching for the answer to my 'why'
I read between the lines, highlight, annotate
I always make sure to take notes
I study the flashcards I made
I replay and replay the movie scenes that are my life
I turn the subtitles on, and I always make sure I can hear clearly
i've watched and re-watched in all the languages I know and the ones I don't,
sure i'll find something I missed before,
sure I will finally find the answer to the paradox of my life
but the issue with that is there is no real answer
to a paradox
and a riddle needs to make sense
a rhyme sounds nice
and questions and queries have answers
but maybe, if I look hard enough...
so i'll go back to my notes
re-write because the ink has smudged and smeared and run,
stained by my sweat and my tears and my blood.
I will ask again and again, study till i'm mad
repeat the phrases I know so well, memorize the line's I've already burned into my brain
retrace the words that are the bones of my being
and reread
and rethink
and rewatch
repeat
retrace
reread
rethink
rewatch
repeat
and repeat
and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat
because there has to be an answer; I just haven't been looking hard enough.
