Why Does Poetry Matter?
Poetry is something that has been a part of my life ever since I learned to read. It is something that takes a lot of time and effort to create.
The perfect poem.
When I first started to take poetry seriously, I thought my poems had to be perfect. Spot on to whatever prompt I was following, decadent words and beautiful formatting. I thought we had to make the theme prominent and easy to understand.
After years of writing poetry in school, I realized something. I realized that poetry does not have to be perfect. Poetry can be anything. Your poem can have a special meaning to you, or it could not mean anything. The goal of poetry is to allow you to express yourself in any way that you want.
It does not have to be perfect.
