The psychiatrist wants to know why I go out and hike around in the forests and watch the birds and collect the butterflies. --Clarisse McClellan

holding eyebags / spilling over / like loose beans / the beggars inside of me beg for bed
tracing brows / penning feigned innocence / with rain-rough asphalt / east-to-west
filling creases with butter / sculpting roundness in cacao / dust settles / in stacks
forcing hot / aqueous cinnamon behind my tongue / scalding flesh / to swallow a sneeze
numbing cold / gnawing my extremities / blue was yesterday / slate reigns today
caulking sheets / to brick building bones / peeling terracotta / takes my skin with it, too
