Daydreamer
I am a dreamer, both day and night
I’m always up in the clouds
My thoughts get fuzzy because of this
and I can never remember anything
I was told to snap out of it, to focus, but I can’t
I’m sent wandering into a plethora of stories that I can’t get out of
I stay up in bed, just thinking about a meadow full of flowers, or floating away in a boat down a river.
I see myself wandering around in the woods.
Wandering, wandering, wandering, until I don’t know where I am.
I end up stuck in the woods, and in real life as I realize I’ve really gotten lost, and I can’t get back home.
I’ll be told to come back to Earth when I get home.
It’s hard to. Work is stressful, and the music which has been implanted into my heart seems better than rotting away trying to complete the dull assignments.
It’s easier to deal with the emotions I experience in my dreams than when I have to confront the truth.
I’d rather touch the clouds than stay on the ground.
I want to fly away, to stay stuck in this world that sees is black and white.
But before I can reach for the stars, I am told to come back down.
I’m left wondering what it would feel like if I did stay, if I made it.
It won’t take long though, as I’ll fly away again. I always do.
