What Memorial Day Means to Me
Each Memorial Day I think about my great-grandpa. His name was Will.
I am proud to carry the name William as my middle name.
He never stopped working and I will carry his legacy on
The sacrifice, the will of a soldier. It is something that only a few people have in their hearts
I want to be selfless like my Grandpa Will.
The battles won and lost will never be forgotten as well as the people who died in those wars.
This Memorial Day I will help veterans around my community
Even though my great-grandpa Will isn't alive anymore, his legacy lives on.
It lives on within me and I will make sure his sacrifice won't be forgotten.
I will raise a flag at my house, in remembrance of Will
And for every veteran who has served our country, we can call America the land of the free and the home of the brave. For now and forever.
Their sacrifices will not be forgotten and their legacy will live on in me and in every other American. Each Memorial Day we should pause and think about all of the people who have given everything to protect people they have never met.
