Life’s soup
Businessmen from Chicago in fine suits,
Honolulu bums in grassy skirts.
Russian dancers with silver earrings and fine black boots.
Egyptians from sandy dune deserts.
Romans with white robes and fiery eyes,
Puerto Ricans with milky peach lilies.
Malaysians who come from bright blue skies,
Chinese who come with spicy noodles and chillies.
The various patchwork cultures of our world,
Tomatoes and chicken- tales and sorrows jauntily unfurl.
Our heritage entwined in our souls in repeat on loop,
All too soon they blend into life’s soup,
Just like how we were brought into the world.
