A girl can dream
I wish we had that picture-perfect relationship.
That “I love you,” “I love you more” kinda relationship.
That Good Morning forehead kisses kinda relationship.
The one every little girl dreams of kinda relationship.
Dinner dates and blanket forts,
Back rubs and pillow fights,
Movie nights and slumber parties,
Mini golf and double dates.
You were my first everything.
My first kiss,
My first dinner date,
My first love.
“He’s not the one”
“You’ll find someone better”
“Still live your life a little”
But I was convinced.
Texting other girls,
Calling your “Mom,”
You never make any time for me,
I always chose time for you.
Going behind my back,
Saying things I hope you’d regret,
Doing everything you wanted,
But not with me, with her.
5 o’clock, 5:30, 6 o’clock, 6:30,
Why can't you ever tell the truth?
“Sorry babe, I was working late”
But you didn’t let me know, for an hour and a half.
All you care about is yourself
What happened to the old you?
So amazing and thoughtful
I don’t even recognize you anymore.
From “When can we hangout”
To “Sorry, I'm busy”
To “I need some space”
It's like I don't even exist anymore
Choosing friends over me
Staying out late,
Did it ever occur to you
That you I’m waiting silently at home?
I'm sitting in my own thoughts
I'm thinking to myself
I'm trying to stop
But I just can’t help it.
I don’t love you anymore.
I loved the outgoing, loving caring side of you.
I loved the thoughtful, amazing, reassuring side of you.
But you've changed.
I don’t love the new you.
“It’s just a phase,” you say,
While texting on your phone.
You don’t love me,
You love her.
You love the idea of me.
The cushion I've made,
The security I’ve provided
Everything you wanted, but with someone else.
There's nothing for you to fix.
You’ve already done the damage.
I deserve to be with someone who loves me,
And who doesn’t love her.
Maybe you deserve her.
Someone to knock into place.
Someone to make you realize what you have while you have it,
Not while it’s already gone.

Just about a girl who wanted the relationship of her dreams and thought she had it until she didn't. Realizing it was with the wrong person the whole time.
