Birthday Girl
At an angle,
the woman dances on aged hardwood floors.
A line full of tired men coat the wall behind her.
Their guitars barely in grasp of their blistered hands.
Their hats add further weight on their shoulders.
After hours, and full of energy,
she danced holding a layer of her white skirt,
freeing her arm of an awkward pose.
She holds her hand out to the audience,
hoping to find someone to dance with her.
A woman in a bright red dress holds her hand up,
ready to dance with the girl who's birthday party is running a little long.
