what if we Were fish In Love?
What if we were fish in love?
Swimming around each other in circles,
Down the rapid currents, flying ahead of all the others
Blinding them by the sights of us?
In our flashy colors, but not enough to sink into their minds
I think we were fish in love
I loved following you where ever the waters took us
Bubbles left a trail behind me as I followed
Up and over the colorful orange reefs
Into the darken caves that we weren’t supposed to wander
Seeing your eyes lighten in beautiful hues, seeing the world around you
Seeing it brightened my face looking at you.
And I would gladly do it all again if given the chance
Because we were fish in love
Though, it wasn’t meant to last
I wanted it to last a lifetime.
When each time we died we come back,
Somehow- some way we would be together once again
But you didn’t follow my bubbled tail to find me,
But another
Because we were fish in love
Never made to last.

Fish have short life spans- and that was our "love" too short.
