Campfire Smoke
As a child, I was always told campfire smoke was good,
because it follows true beauty, like no would else would
I vividly remember campfire smoke following me when I was little,
and back then, I thought true beauty were the girls without pimples
but, as I grew older, one thing was for certain:
a person society claims is pretty isn’t always a truly beautiful person
what you see on the outside isn’t always the same on the inside,
but you, you’re both to me, and besides,
I think your beautiful inside and out,
it’s something you should never doubt
I know it’s difficult to remember at times, but I want you to know,
I’ve never met a kinder person, and I know it’s not a show
although campfire smoke may be a legend told me to make me feel better,
all I needed back then was the promise of your letters!
Anyway, you deserve campfire smoke always following you;
And you’re the sweetest person I’ve ever met, too!

I wrote this little poem for Sunflower after a Monday night campfire at Camp O! It reminded me that when I was younger, my Girl Scout Leader told me that smoke follows true beauty. Then I thought of my friend (Sunflower) who definitely deserves campfire smoke following her always! (Metaphorically, Of course, because I’d it actually did that would suck. Pfft)
