Artificial Taste
Covering yourself with shades of red
Look at the artificial taste you have
Pleasing others with shades of pink
Why can't you understand you’re more than that?
When you look into the mirror why can’t you see a beautiful person shining?
Why don’t you see your beautiful flaws that make up who you are
Instead, you suffocate yourself with lipstick, hide away those chapped lips because no one likes it
Put on foundation so no one can see your face because in the end to you it’s a beauty race
Put away the lipstick, put away the blush, you are perfect just as who you are
You do not need the fake lies to tell you how to get a guy
Makeup doesn’t make you any better, in fact, it just drowns when there’s bad weather
Makeup only stays with you when days are sunny but it won’t stay with you when rain pours down and then you look funny
Makeup is your toxic friend who only leaves you again and again
It’s like drugs you keep using and how you never seem to think
One day you’ll forget who you are when you’re smothered with makeup for so long
When you look into the mirror one day who will you see?
A beautiful girl inside and out who lives her life without a doubt?
Or will you see someone different than that?
Someone fake?
Someone trying to win the makeup race?
No, you find someone who’s lost their face
Makeup does not heal you, one day it can kill you
That girl forgot who she was and now she’s out there, one of us
She was one time the moon, but now she’s a tiny star
She just had to be one of us and I liked it when she wasn’t
I hope when she looks into the mirror, she’ll see the artificial taste
She brought upon herself, and realized she lost the race
Because makeup was just her artificial taste
