Parasitic
You said my name and my heart stopped
The cliche of love at first sight was a profound effect.
Magical, I’d go so far as to call it.
You weren’t the most attractive,
Nor the funniest,
Not the kindest,
You were average.
But my mind latched onto you like a parasite.
You,
Of all people,
You.
You became my obsession,
My driving force.
I found out everything about you,
Don’t ask how because I cannot remember.
The feeling was blur,
As was my mind thinking of you.
And oh how I thought of you.
Every second you flooded my mind.
Ensnaring every one of my senses.
I had no defense against you.
For an obsession like this one could not be satisfied with so little.
I craved word from you,
Praying every notification was you.
And when it was,
You had only wait a minute for me to take a picture
And send it to you.
Anything for you.
Was this love?
I didn’t know.
I don’t know.
Will I ever?
I feel nothing for you now.
There was a time when I couldn’t stop thinking about you,
Now when your face appears in my mind,
I shut it out.
The parasite had died,
Just as quickly as it attached itself to you.
My mind was confused when you were in the picture,
If there was ever a picture.
I believe there was.
But parasite infect the mind,
Mine was not right when I was in love with you.
When I woke up for you.
When I was at your beck and call.
Now I am me.
And that parasite lies searching for someone new.
You were entirely replaceable.
You meant nothing to me.
Yet, when you did,
You were the world.
