I wished upon a star
I wished upon a star
and it was a glorious star
the perfect one
at exactly 11:11
I made a wish
I prayed for its success
with tears in my eyes
and hope in my heart
Not knowing that the cold truth
Awaited me the following morning
I wished for my parents to stop arguing
And fighting
And to be happy
But as I heard the first argument
Sour my morning
I realized that my wish meant nothing
I prayed to God
Asking that salty question
Why
Why didn’t my wish work
Don’t you love me
No answer
Silence
Cold and empty
I sat waiting
Knowing the truth
I wished for
A false hope
But memory
Instilled a hope
And as I recall
I still had hope
So for the time being
I will wish every night
Upon a star
And one day
My wish will be granted
And my patience rewarded
Until then
I tell my parents every night and morning
I love you
And that alone warms my heart
Because maybe I did wish upon the right star
Every family has a problem and I believe that it can be solved, I hope others can understand and reach out a hand to anyone they know who has family issues.
