Here
here
when the ribbons of life untie us
here we are, together
all here
adult, child,
sloping sea and beads of night
headlights, fog, and restless boats
here
when the ventilator fuels your last sigh
when the hospital lets you go
you are here
all of you present, no illusions
as your soul light stands up and reaches for something
beyond
you are here
we are here
born, dying
walking and breathing
don’t be afraid, we’re all here
on the earth
this is a moment.

This piece is based on a thought I had when I first woke up: that there is a subtle peace even in the midst of very sad moments. We are all on earth, we're OK, and it's going to be OK.
