Thawed
November 30, 2021
City lights blink on and off,
Shutters closing as people settle down to sleep
But tonight i will not sleep
My light remains on, shutters open,
The winter breeze flutters in, icing my eyes closed but i won’t let them shut
So i see past my frozen tears
And watch the people rush down below
I watch until there is nobody left and the stars disappear from the sky
Until my tears thaw and slide down my face
It is then I know you will not come.
