Paint Me a Sky
i hold onto your voice
like a translator
i watch the paint
you put on the canvas
blossom into stars
i introduce myself
with my middle name
my face puckers
mouth bloated with
foolish words
i string
for your gaze
your thin arms crack open
jars of blue
i stare at you
like a child waits for clouds to move
your eyes
rolling films
of birds cawing
i clasp every sound
in my left palm
i watch them fly away
a red sun flickering in the sky
an iris percolating any hope
